What language are you best at? Hindi? Oh sorry, English?

It seems we'll soon become a country that needs Hindi/Sanskrit lessons, more than any other country does, to read our very own Indian holy scriptures. Who is going to read them anyway? (Is that what you're thinking?)

I hope we start realizing the importance of our language and be better Indians.

But a majority of us would not even have tried to read any of these books.

People from other countries are taking interest in our culture because many years ago it was really rich and they are trying to make it their own. Why? Because most of us don't take pride in it.

We are still a developing country maybe because along with following trends from other countries, we are not giving importance to our own country in the true sense.

I don't think a majority of us would know much.

It's funny but shameful that we have already reached a place where we would buy our holy texts translated into English so that we could understand our language.

Wouldn't it be weird for an Indian going to a shop saying "भैया, भगवद् गीता का English version देना"?

It's great to know about other cultures, languages, and trends but not at the cost of our own.

These are some of the questions and thoughts that crossed my mind, some time back. I feel that most of us get so lost in portraying ourselves as people who are well versed in many foreign languages that we forget our national language (which should actually be our forte). But is it?
